Group of Two Antique Nephrite Jade Tao-Tieh Masks.

Description

Pictures 2-6: Beautifully carved with a fine patina of russet coloration over what looks like an originally pale green and white stone.The back side shows the red ragged  line of an internal inclusion.The face has a "third eye" between raised bushy eyebrows and appears to have 4 ears-one on each side of the face and two more on top of the head.It appears to have a mustache issuing out of the nostrils.It measures 3" in height, is 2 1/4" in width, and is 1 /4" thick. It weighs 87 gr and has a specific gravity of 3.0SG.
Pictures 7-12:Show a stunning carving which is rounded on the surface in a convex mound shape so that its thickness at the center is 1/2" and at the edges 1/8" or less.It has an interesting russet patina mostly on the front and inside all the incision lines.It has what look like horns on the forehead and resemble "lingzhi" shapes, and large flaring eyebrows.The toothy large mouth is heart-shaped and wide open.It measures 3 1/2" high, is 3 1/2" in width, and 1/2" thick.It weighs 140 gr and has a specific gravity of 2.95SG.
